Runaround No more

So Iraq finally have something to celebrate. A united Iraqi team has won the Asian Cup giving the population who are now stuck in a civil war and abject poverty due to the illegal war a glimmer of a smile in a ever worsening situation.
& on a sour note the comic Mike Read has passed on to the comedy club upstairs. I saw him live and he was very funny but the fondest memories must be his
children's TV stint presenting "Runaround" ... "Runaround Nowwwww!!! "

Plantation Park Outing

A useful work out on a warmish day against sub standard opposition.
The final score was not that important but for the statto's it finished 4-0 with goals from Turner (2) Frew and Nolan.
Again its just a friendly so I will only bullet point a few bits about the game
We started with the back 4 that will start the season and they looked rock solid but with a side that was only throwing paper towels at you it was not that difficult.
Very good use of the channels in the game JT looked impressive again as did Francis and Frew!!
Camm was assured and used the broom well.Matty OH has the jury out as he did at the end of last season.Nolan and DB came on in the second half both did ok.
A couple of trialists were on display, Ridgeway and Lake and to be honest neither impressed or added anything extra to the squad we already have.
Melton and Jack were missing, Jack off with the Res at Ely and Melton he is a Leg-end so the note from his mum about Brighton was accepted.
All in all a good training session with 2 good goals from JT, a memorable Fluke cross goal from Frew and a bullet from Nolan.
An added bonus was the appearance of Shaun Carey who looked to be running freely and although he didn't have that much to do he did it well.He recieved a nice ovation onto the pitch from players & fans as well.Perhaps he is the reason we have not chased too hard for another midfielder.
Finally Its a nice little ground, but as its the Norfolk FA's headquarters you would expect so. One criticism is that the bar is upstairs which is a really pain in a wheelchair.

A bit of Loveliness to start a weekend with

I agree totally with the postal strike and the reasons for it happening.
We have to stand up for our rights at every level.
Change should not be at the expense of loyal workers
That little rant will please the local area union rep!

Gym Incident

A weird sporting world

Mclaren steal ferrari plans but sudenly there is not enough evidence..bullshit!
ludo !!! at bostscum is suddenly the best thing since sliced bread ..Unbelieveable bullshit!
And on a sad note football loses David Preece
and Danny Bergara... sad times both were big football names from my youth.

Movies and Music

Just a brief round up of recent lps listened to and movies seen.
The
lps are all quite mellow in this group, must be an indication of my current state of mind
The Amy Macdonald
lp as mentioned few days ago is ok , nothing to get over excited about on its first listen but it will probably be a grower.
The new Josh Rouse "Country Mouse,City House"
lp is great as usual , Josh Rouse is a well kept secret and that's just the way i like it.It's great 70'S tinged country-folk for those that do not know of him and he rarely fails to deliver great lps.Check out his "nashville" lp as a start point.
I have also caught up with Catherine Feeny and her new lp Hurricane Glass". It is well worth seeking out. She is a great singer songwriter, guaranteed songs on all of those US Living TV sitcoms.
Movie wise,The new Harry potter movie is excellent , very dark in places and really aimed at children over the age of 10 ( many under this age will just not get it) and it does miss out large chunks of the book which means that it does seem a little disjointed but it is still the best HP so far.
The Transformers movie is very good too and YES that did hurt me to write. I had low expectations of the film but these were soon totally exceeded with lots of great comedy and action sequences that were breathtaking. This type of film is normally well off of my radar but it worked on every level.
Shrek the Third is just plain average , it's a film to rent at most and a car boot copy is probably a better bet. There should be a few passable copies about now.

A Funny Story

Not sure if this is true as it's a mate of a mate story, plus it may not have been the lady's worst sex ever but I'd wager it's competitive.
A mate told me about a mate of his shagging some lady he'd picked up on a night out. Apparently both were partly clothed and he was shagging her from behind in the time honoured doggy style when the following incident occurred.
In the throes of passion, the lady says to him, "I want to see your face".
So, does he do the gentlemanly thing and relocate her into a suitable position her so that her wish may be granted?
No, no he doesn't.Instead he carries on humping away and without missing a thrust, reaches down into the back pocket of his jeans and produces for her....
...his bus pass.

The Broads

Well made it to the broads and back via a few small village/towns on the way.
I quite liked North
Walsham full of mainly independent traders and just seemed like a nice place , there was a dodgy bit of seventies attempted but failed small shopping precinct with the local clone dressed kids ( i much prefer Kings Lynn goths- much more effort and style) but a pleasant town.
Wroxham is simply overrated, Roy's is just a title over the door with much of the space concession ed out , A good piece of branding but dull dull dull. The fish and chips though were very good, not up to Tewksbury level and defiantly no where near Dorchester but still very good.
The game was OK.The northern lads were given the night off and we started with several of what would be termed reserves but apart from a few early lapses everyone played well and no-one looked out of their depth against a more than competent
Wroxham side.I love the fact we have 4/5 forwards that all play the game very differently but still have the ability to link up. Frew played more in an attacking midfield role tonight to good effect, Fisk looked good , Francis is great going forward but doesn't seem to relish the defensive aspect. A good work out and Howie was in goal as well.
