Well after being forced to keep the fact that we were talking to the guy secret for about a month I am finally allowed to mention it in public. Guess i passed the test then KB.!
My thoughts are that he could and should be one of the final parts of the puzzle that sees us get out of this god forsaken league.I would like to see him have a go in midfield and see what he brings to our party there but i presume he will probably start at centre half on saturday with the man mountain MW out.Terrific work by the chairman and the manager in getting CF to the club.
I have to say i have no desire to see Adam Smith stay at the club beyond his loan period . He has helped us out as have P'Boro (spit) but it is time to say goodbye and let him take his dream move to wherever ( no prizes for where the choices are)
I have to say i am excited about Saturday , the first time for a long time this has occurred about a home game.I have even found the money to buy a season ticket (and paid the debts of the last 5 weeks off- never again 8 away games in a row please!).After visiting all of these Ridgeons league standard grounds it will be a pleasant relief to be in a real ground. Guess the beer will still be outrageously expensive! There is a real groundswell of people that are looking to move their wallets to some other licensed establishment if the beer price is the same as last year, Bewarned club!

The weekend Fixture
I have visited Lincoln Utd on several occasions and it has always been a pleasant little ground that is much better than many of the southern league grounds we visit.A good clubhouse with a great garden(a pet cemetary included for the more ghoulish amongst us),a bonus of sharing with a cricket club.
I only have a few minor gripes one being that i was told to leave a wheelchair bound person outside the ground and go in to find someone to open the gate to let her get in.There was a jobsworth inside the ground that could of done this within my eyeline.Secondly the rails that they put in to i would guess charge for stand entrance were only just wide enough to allow a wheelchair through, how someone propelling their own chair would manage i have no idea(90% turns in a chair are difficult).Thirdly just because a person is in a chair they and the carer are not dum.If we had needed the disabled toilet i would of asked and found it.I did not need to be told where it was and that they had one because that is the law as we left the ground as if to cover themselves. It is a fine line between being helpful and unintentionally offensive.
Well I have had my moan now and look forward to the new disabled toilet facilities at the walks although a nighttime function in the clubhouse during the winter will be fun.Perhaps they have central heating in the new outside disabled facilities with a roof between the clubhouse and the toilet for those wet winter nights!
The game was a continuation of the Swindon second half. Great crossing , running at players and the good news was Matty Nolan got himself on the score sheet. The floodgates will now proceed to open for him is my prediction. My view is that no side in the southern league will live with us if we continue to play like.
A good draw in the next round as well with a very winnable tie if we turn up in the right frame of mind. Whoever decided at Stourbridge FC to take pictures of their ground on a drab grey day?Have a look if you get a chance here and follow the link that says ground. It doesn't make the place look inviting at all. Another adjoining cricket club as well, will the cricket theme continue and lead us to Bramall lane in a later round this season?

Well,Well,Well. The trip to the Aircraft Builders was straight forward apart from trying to understand the directions that the Lynn news had got hold of but it was nothing that the £1.99 AA M.A.P Satellite Navigation system could not decipher and at least i now know where the Lidl is in Swindon. On arrival we just avoided the bowls "you can't park here jobsworth" Sgt major unlike some of the others and parked exactly were we wanted then met up with the pseudo kit man and his assistant who upon being asked not to drink too much immediately resigned!! The regular kit bod is on his hols and was driving to the Algarve to meet up with his good lady who was flying! It appears he has a Dennis Bergkamp going on.Just as well we are not in Europe this year!
The Aircraft Builders have a Ridgeons level ground which is quite neat and tidy, although the bushes on the far side could do with a trim. They do have a lovely "Groundforce" patio area, with some good decking going on for all you DIY guys & gals and there must be many of you judging by the lack of travelling support at times this season.Well it's the fa cup next week and all of the cobwebs will be shook off for that i am sure. Good to see the coach running again though.
The game like most football matches was of two halves. The first was dominated by ourselves with little penetration but we did manage to be only inches from the target unlike the aircraft builders who were aiming at the floodlight bulbs. After a well publicised bollocking at half time we came out like a team that had been bollocked and played some lovely flowing football. All of the goals were simple tap ins after great build up with the whole team putting in a good performance,Nolan was superb as were, well everyone including Mr Smith.
We topped off the day by visiting Brackley for a second time in a week, this time for chips and to scream cause we wanted to go faster on the waltzers at the visiting fair in the market place.
14 pts from 7 away games , I'm H.A.P.P.Y with that.

A Joke
A young couple got married, and in their family, it was tradition that the best man dance with the bride for the first song. Well, this happened...but then they danced for the second song too. And the third. By the time the fourth song came on, the groom ran up and kicked the bride between the legs. A riot broke out, and all the invited guests were hauled off to jail. In court the next week, the judge asked the best man what happened.
''Your honor, we were just dancing, and the groom ran up and kicked the bride between the legs.''
''That must have hurt,'' said the judge.
''No kidding,'' said the best man. ''I broke three of my fingers.''

The Visit to Brackley
A tidy ground , very much in a Ridgeons premier style. The pitch looked like it was a snooker table but had more ripples in it than a pond that was being used for a stone skimming championship.
I am one of those happy with a point from the game. I thought Brackley got into us quickly and gave us very little space throughout the game and the loss of JT before the game and Francis during the game also gave them an advantage. I thought we did ok (especially after the loss of Francis and the change in tactics this caused) in the first half and should of gone in 2 up if Fisk could shoot.Second half was not amazing we let them get at us , although if the Frew header had snuck in the game would of been over.Defensively we look still look strong and i thought yet again apart from getting beat for the first header when they scored (Warren was beaten for the header that went in) CD was again superb.
Well done the lad Francis for a very brave goal and the knee in the face he took for the team.He supposedly didn't know he had scored even after the game!
I am a bit perplexed that our manager went on a scouting mission when we have a game. This does not make me a happy man especially when tactical changes were needed at crucial points in the game. Get some else to do the scouting . Send your assistant! who tactically did not cut the mustard on Tuesday night.
Finally Adam Smith was poor again and deserved to be substituted for the second game in a row. If he had been took off then perhaps we could of bought on DB instead of having a non attacking midfield. Yet another player who briefly visits the pro-game and comes back thinking he's a big time Charlie.. Lincoln City my arse!
Finally I have got to say what a nice friendly club Brackley was.

Goodbye to a real english hero
Jane Tomlinson , now she was a real hero.None of this bullshit about remembering a dead pampered princess, In ten years time we should be remembering Jane Tomlinson.
In fact we should use this lady an inspiration to all do something that tests ourselves to the limit instead of sitting in the easy chair.
I have very few people that i think of as heroes, the phrase "that we all shit out of same hole" tends to come top mind when i think of or even meet those that are supposed to be great people
RIP Jane Tomlinson , you were a REAL inspiration who never needed any media Hype.

1632 Miles & 10 points
Bless me dear god of blogging for i have sinned it has been forever since i last posted and all of my readers will have left me now for pastures far far greener.
Don't worry son , if you write it they will return and read.
So here we go again
The season so far in brief
Well someone else did the maths and told me that i have travelled 1632 miles so far this season and as i have said elsewhere it is as usual totally worthwhile. the football has at best been very good , at worse dull in capital letters and overall just above average. the return of 10 pts so far is excellent and if it carries on at that level then should bring forth over 40 away points which is title winning form , as long as we turn up when we play at the walks.
Bashley . Well the train took the strain and enabled a few cherryades to be sunk during the day, it also meant that we had no traffic problems except getting back to the bar for another beverage. The game was destroyed by the weather and a good point was earned. No more comment as the day is a bit fuzzy in the memory.
Corby . What a hole this place is, the bar hasn't changed since my first visit many years ago and I really do hate running tracks around football pitches. Getting in took forever, bless the retirement home that let the turnstile operator out on a night visit ( nice to see his letter from the Queen pinned up at the back of the booth) .We were just in when The boy wonder Francis lashed in the first goal. Good physical fare followed and the result was totally just.
The home fans well ...... at least they now have some I suppose. Singing about drinking a fizzy drink that could corrode American bridges... what is all that sad shit about?
Yate . A terrific summers day that meant the sun cream made a surprise appearance led on to an even better day with finally a league win at this conifer lined graveyard. Some good football with a lovely JT goal to start followed by a DB special from 1 yard meant a smiling journey home. And the journey got better when Tewksbury's finest "Abbey Fryer" was discovered alive and still serving fine fare by a 38 year old man needing his first portion of chips for more than 3 weeks.
Rugby . One game too far for two sides that looked like they needed to spend the afternoon in the pub relaxing and not having to entertain restless natives and even more restless tourists.
A point would of been a fair result but without getting cliched things don't happen like that , especially if you are a KLFC fan. Well a few frothy bevvies helped ease the pain so not all was lost.
Tiverton . After travelling the M5 car park forever a win was the only option to keep matrimonial matters afloat and the team obliged . In a game where the referee pulled up the brutal Tivvy every time they kicked the crap out of a kings lynn player , the lads did the 15 travellers proud with a quality performance on a snooker table pitch ( and I don't mean like those down paige stair lane that slope at the corners)
Two Stars so far have been
JT - absolute quality, works his arse off as well.
CD - magnificent and gets better every game , there is no way that Crane should waltz straight back into the side.
The whole side has performed well in testing conditions combined with massive amounts of travelling.
Let the season continue in the same vein at Brackley tonight.
