Sleeps in Oysters

Beautiful electronica music in an amazingly beautiful Package

I received my copy Today
More at www.myspace.com/sleepsinoysters

Well it is a Football blog

So I had better put some football content on the site once a week.
Goodbye to Danny Boy ... Great player and a bit of the over used Legend word during his stays at the club.I have to say he has made the right decision for both himself and the club. Good luck my man with all of life.
D D D D Danny Bloomfield ... Smile Danny ...
Glenn Roeder, bless him i notice this week he has found the spare copy of Keith's "cliche a day" book under the third bush to the right of the gate at Colney.Must of been when he was retrieving the ball from a Cureton shot that failed to hit the barn door. It's gonna be even harder to sell a club when they are in the old third division.Keep up the good work.
So we are on the hunt for new players with my favourite uncle Kens Blessing.
Spin spin spin...should of gone to India with the England debacle. At least the current situation puts a stop to the embarrassment.
More Stafford tomorrow before advent begins and a long wait for a home game.
Dizzy heights of eighth in the press today? Well it will make the stats look good if false.Nothing new about that in the last couple of seasons.
Tommy Taylor? why not?
Paul Raynor? Now there's a suggestion.

New Order

Sunday Quote

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards:
they try to have more things,
or more money,
in order to do more of what they want
so they will be happier.
The way it actually works is the reverse.
You must first be who you really are,
then,do what you need to do,
in order to have what you want.

Margaret Young

Stafford Rangers at Home in The Trophy

What do you say about the game?
In bullet type
A win that nets the club four thousand English pounds so that's JJ wages covered until the next round.
A win that could mean that we possibly have two home games now in December.
A slightly better performance from pretty much the whole defence, lets hope they can now stay together as a unit so that some understanding can develop.
Mr Frew played well as did Mr Mitchell.
Who will make way for Jack next week or will he have to settle for the subs bench?
The game was awful in very cold but good conditions.
Bring on the draw tomorrow and make it a home one.
Feed the Joachim,he will score
A good selections of alternative carols were also formulated on the terraces with a reoccurring theme.I am sure they will be sung in return for beer tokens on request.
More Stafford next week with a much stronger side with those Gresley Rover Players included ..Umm ha ha.
I will say that if Stafford could hit a barn door then the scoreline could of been considerably different.
Difficult times are still approaching Keith.

Saturday AM comment

So the Trophy trail begins and realistically our last chance of achieving anything more than mid table dulldom.Yeah i know that if you looked back i said i would be happy with that but after seeing the real standard of the league my opinions have changed. The jump is not that huge, yes teams put away their chances sometimes more efficiently but that is not hard against a side that defend like under sixes. As mentioned by a learned poster on the forum why is Peters not coaching the back 4?
Why is Weaver being preferred to Graham as centre half?
Crane is woefully short of form and needs dropping if the lad from Thomas is fit?
Why not play Kelly as full back he looked comfortable in the games he has come on or started?
Have some Bollocks and start earning the wages Keith.
It's all right stating the obvious in the local rags,I can do that on here.
Sort the Fucker out before the masses start to leave the fold.
If we go out of this competition today then we will only have one guaranteed game at home in December.
How long will it be before we have to offload players to balance the budget if the directors don't dip deep and why should they if we are going nowhere fast.

Gateshead Away

Well,I missed my second game of the season and spent the travel time in and out of Kings Lynn supermarkets. At least all of the Christmas presents are now bought as well as a majority of the junk food that we all have to over consume during the period. That is of no consolation though I absolutely hate missing matches for any reason and whatever the result. You find yourself living on scraps of what happened and maybe the control freak in me is finally coming out so to speak.
So Frew read the blog and responded with two goals and the rest of his performance was...I have no idea.Crane read the blog and just got worse according to my secret correspondent and the EDP.
To throw away a two goal lead and then lose is criminal.
It needs no more analysis.

The King's Moans on Saturday

He asked me to post these on the interweb and although factually correct they don't have anywhere near the same level of annoyance to me as him
It was £11.00 to get in (fairly normal especially for an ex conference side)
The programme was £2.50 ( I never buy a programme so again it does not bother me)
You could not get a beer at half time (Normally I would be bothered but this is going to be the normal state of play if we want to go higher,so be it and the bovril was good anyhow)
Segregation (guess he wanted to bend the locals ears, he certainly did mine on the way home until the curb jumped out on me- again we had best get used to it if we want to go higher)
If I hear the phrase "Are you definitely going to Gateshead"? one more time an innocent cat will get kicked.
His suggestion was to treat both Stafford and Southport the same when they come to the Walks which i think is more than petty.
Its all about opinions this game.
Better get that steel fixed so they can go to Gateshead with a spare tyre

Total Distance travelled - 430 miles.
Total Driving/Travelling time - 7hrs 40 Min's.
Number of comfort breaks - 10...The king, the fighter and a Ferrari
style tyre change on the way back.We were Good believe me!
Driving Conditions - Bright, cold and wet outside Doncaster, guess some lovely local opened her legs a bit too wide.

The Fighter was on good form, they will follow as memory allows.

The journey was all good and simple, several stops,The King and the Shoe salesman driving the two vehicles. No real hold ups, just a loop of roundabout in Southport when the King doubted the travel masters directions (alcohol starved fool)and at the ground in 4 hours. We parked opposite a Chinese chippie and a Booze, news and food store,The Chippie was piss poor and the store adequate. We then ventured to a local boozer "The Thatch and Thistle"that had seen far better days but had the footie on,well the scouse anyhow and served beer.No real ale beer for the ever changing moods of the King who by this time had attacked the beer after getting moody and more erratic for the last hour of the journey there. The boozer did allow the Fighter to finally get rid of his fifty pound note!Onto the club bar that didn't look it had changed much in the last 40 years except for a coat of paint after the smoking ban started.Quick drink in here then onto the £11 to stand,£12.50 to sit ground and the segregated end with after a recount 21 fans in it ?
A good Curry pie that was disguised as meat and potato until the lid was removed and bovril just had to be partaken as the sea breeze froze those that had been blinded by the sun in Kings Lynn at 9 in the morning.
It has to be noted that the Shoe salesman did not have a good time with all things cold.A cold bovril, frozen bollocks and a so called battered goldfish that was still frozen in the middle despite being deep fried for 90 seconds.
The game,well umm must I?
First half
We sat back so deep for nearly all of the first half that the only rest the forwards of Southport had was when they scored. It was like an invite to just attack at will and they did.Defensively we were poor again, across the whole 4 and closing down & second ball winning were just a thing of dreams for the midfield.Turner failed to hold the ball up when he did get it,Frew ran in a tunnel style and JJ never got the ball at all.Howie cannot get away with it either,he made a fair few good saves but should of done better for their second goal.Frew got lucky for the totally against play goal but they all count. We were very lucky to go in at half time only 2-1 down.
Second half
Much better but with the attacking edge of a rubber knife. We were combative, aggressive and much stronger but lacked any real idea going forward, with the ball when we did try just going straight back to Southport who second half produced very little. We missed Jack in a big way for his hold up play.We should of had a penalty for a hand ball on the line from our only real attack but that would of been cruel on the Port who were good value for the win. Will they win the league? No fucking chance.

Overall we were poor for the most part and I have seen Kings Lynn Rovers defend far better and stronger.Crane as captain, what a joke.Captains should lead by example,it is just as well not all copied him.
Onto Gateshead a few go,not me unfortunately the lack of time given to organise adequate health cover at home being the main factor.

Quick update more tomorrow

Shocking at the back, impotent up front and weak in midfield...
Frew fluked a goal with a wicked deflection, crane and weaver were poor
We should have had a penalty for a handball on the line in the second half which was a much more solid performance.
More in the morrow

Beware the curb that jumps out at you under cover of darkness on Lincolnshore roads and bends wheel steels !!!

The journey was straight forward to a more than awkward ground to get to from Kings Lynn, its stuck between all main routes and either via a city that as said we didn't quite master at the first attempt on the way back home or up and over via Newark and several b roads that we did master at the first attempt..all in a days fun and at least i did see the only football ground worth seeing in the Nottingham,Good old Meadow Lane!
No Minibus again as the apathy that has swept in to The Walks continued but the Fighter and Shoe salesman did the honours of driving allowing me to partake in a few sneaky red dresses.Cheers.
Good to meet up with the Drug man as he became a gentleman chauffeur for players partners for the day,ah!bless, keeps him away from Bass players for a few hours.
The Game
First half was again non descript with the side that are bottom of the table dominating a poor game of few chances and even less excitement.Nice of the central defenders to allow the Hucknall lad Bacon an audition in Strictly Dancing as he waltzed through both of them showing moves that Len would of been awarding a ten for.Shocking.
Second half improved as it had too.We created more and started to remember that we had forward players and that the midfield could join in.Joachim showed his class with a very well taken goal and the introduction of Francis for the ineffective and poor Frew (again, why is he starting ahead of the not used at all Turner?) pushed us on further and a terrific free kick was put away by the lad Graham with a deft header.
A win that is well needed and deserved but there are still concerns over team selection.Smith was poor and when Camm came on we revitalised and realised that we did not need to sit so deep that we were just inviting them to attack at will.Frew was poor, surely Francis or Turner?
Use Joachim and join up with him and things will happen but don't expect him to do it all on his own,use him.
4-4-2 away and a win ... simple
"Feed the Joach..im and he will score"
Cheers to the drivers that allowed me a few relaxing Cherryade's.
Southport anyone?

Oh Yes... The fightback begins

Well done the people of America
Perhaps now racism can really be eradicated in all of its forms all over the world including the Walks where it seems to be raising its very ugly head again.
Whatever our colour or creed we are all the same.
I fail to see how any person of any age think it is their right, funny or just ok to victimise or discriminate just because someone is not the same colour or creed as they are.

Solihull at Home

Well a win is a win and you can only beat what is put in front of you.We had some serious defensive issues especially in the first half which could be put down to the new players coming in, these seemed to resolve themselves when Weaver came on.He has looked solid enough when played at centre half.
Crane was woeful again yesterday and was at fault for most of the good things that Solihull created.Just as well The Moors were their own worst enemy in front of goal and should of put us out of sight in the first ten minutes.
What would happened if they had of gone in front?
The first JJ goal was worth the price of admission on its own. What a great piece of control to set himself up for a quality finish, guess he had read the over critical piece that Keith had put in the EDP on Saturday. Was it a bit of reverse psychology Keith as we all know that JJ is more than capable of scoring hatfuls of goals at this level given some decent service as he proved yesterday with his brace.
I like Ben Sedgemore and when he picks his fitness back up he can do a good job with Mitchell and Smith, glimpses of this were shown yesterday.
Michael Frew ummm...I was surprised to see him ahead of John Turner who has been the stand out player in the previous three awful performances. Was it the right decision,no simply.
Jacks sending off was appalling. Clumsy?Yes.Two footed and all studs showing? No.The sending off was a current reflection of the whole game of football where the physical element is being eroded weekly until the game will eventually be a non contact sport that is unrecognisable to us all.Mr George is and has always been above himself,We think he was being assessed yesterday so it was guaranteed that he would want to be the centre of attention by the end of the game.Muppet!
Yesterday was 3 pts which are more than welcome but we still have some major problems.
I applaud the fact that Joe Francis was sent with the reserves to try and find some form and confidence.

The blind will still be following blindly

That was a comment made at the last game by the runner, however flippantly it was made it is very true
Found a poem to sum it up in a PC way.

When Saturday Comes

So when Saturday comes, where will you be?
At home in your armchair, watching TV?
Are you part of the prawn sandwich brigade?
Whose interest and enthusiasm quickly fade?

It’s easy to support, when the team does well
Funny how suddenly the crowd numbers swell
Some like to bask in the reflected glory
We’ve seen it before; it’s the same old story

And when things take a turn for the worse
They all can’t wait to moan and curse
“I saw this coming!” “The team is useless!”
“Why do I bother?” “I deserve better than this!”

The true loyalty in football, is the bond that ties
the real fan to his club. That never dies
He is not fickle, that genuine supporter
He’ll support his team through hell or high water

The club belongs to him, part of his soul
It hurts like hell when they concede a goal
That union is like a Dad and wayward child
That makes him so happy, so proud or so wild

So which one are you, the true or fickle fan?
When Saturday comes, where will you stand?
With us on the terraces or be one of those
At the checkout counter, down at Tescos?

If you are at the ground, will you moan and bitch
about what is going on, out on the pitch?
Or will you all try to get behind the side?
It is your choice; down to you to decide

So when Saturday comes, we may win or get beat
A loss will be desperate; a victory so sweet
But the one thing I’m sure, I can safely declare
Is that the loyal supporters will all be there
