Distance Travelled - 280 miles
Weather - lovely , dull, wet and then dark " beautiful British weather"
Very cold at the game itself up on an exposed hill
Travellers - Just the 5 ( as the King would say after leaving the pub after 20 mins)... about 25 in total at the game
Comfort Breaks - many ... a beautiful british Layby
5 set off in brillant sunshine on a lovely winters day in the King mobile....
up the Beautiful British road the A17 and then the A1 .Sounds wise it was radio 1 and then in reverse to the sounds of Radio 2 .. I kin hate the Talentless prick Reggie Yates and listening to Trevor Nelson is definitely not a beautiful British tradition in fact i would rather listen to ELO again... & again .... & again...
A Simple trip then we got misplaced in Farsley itself as the sign to the ground was about the size of the Shrimp mans sti and had been vandalised so that it was hidden and pointing to the crumblin kerb...The ground itself was in the middle of new housing with a mud field beside it really in the middle of nowhere. Chances of finding it without asking were less than the chances of Sol Campbell not being .... ( insert your own word) The land that they own is supposed to be worth millions but they have been told will never get planning permission so in real terms it is worth a tenner for the scrap value of the metal fences once the asbestos has been removed from the stand covering one end...The ground was like a posher version of Banbury but without the cows at one end .. all neat, tidy and basic. They had a very amusing head steward /safety officer dressed in a pin stripe suit about 5ft tall and he looked as he sounded like he was up his own arse... Very funny...In charge of the massive crowd of 309 ..ha ha ...segregation ....
Lovely bar staff ,dressed in an indie Leeds style...very nice on the eye ... I am still on the J2o so can't tell you about the beer .The food was poor ... I broke a rule and had a burger which tasted of nothing at all.. the pastries would of been a better option me thinks.
The game ... it was a good battle in both halves, with it stuck in the midfield for most the first half with them creating one good chance with the lad trying to hit the ball luckily for us hitting a top class air shot .JJ should of done better later on but got out muscled (ie. didn't react quick enough) to get his shot away from 5 yards. We then had a stone wall penalty turned down for a blatant push/shove over in the box.It was right in front of us.The rest of the first half just died out.
Second half saw us come out in a hurry and hit the bar ( Graham again) and have the ball cleared off the line from the scramble that followed.W then let them come at us at will .Smith just sat and was poor. Both of their full backs were attacking at will .The 4-4-2 set up ( nothing wrong with that )& Frew and JJ in the middle it left us very exposed on the flanks and the Celtic manager sussed this ... Did we react to it on the bench ... did we heck as they say up North. We got lucky/unlucky in the fact that Smith got injured so Francis came on which tightened it up a bit .
We were just saying that JJ had been poor and also stating that his service had been poor when he turned the centre half in and out then out and in again before hitting a shot that the keeper could only Parry out for Frew to then have a go that the keeper again parried this time to Fisk who conjured a shot from within him that mustered more than a trickle on the Richter scale to hit the back of the net ... The cynics amongst immediately sensed that we would struggle to hold on for ten minutes as Farsley threw the kitchen sink and the goalkeeper in the end to scramble a deserved equaliser in a very even game.
Positives ...the lad Hurren looked very good as did Graham and Thomas ( to our amusement the Farsley announcer turned vicar re-christened him Thomas Bradley in the pre match team announcement .. guess you had to be there.)
A good point we could say but it still means we have not won since the 8th of November and have collected just 6 pts from the last 27 ...In Black and white is that good enough...?..with all bar one team below us having games in hand ( many with 2 or more ) and only 9 points off of the relegation places ..To me sitting 11th is an artificial position with our form, especially with games against the top 2 in the next two weeks ...I am beginning to worry slightly despite the way we played yesterday.
