I made the late decision to escape the Scouse derby on the tv and get along to The Junction in Cambridge to see the the mighty Frank Turner ( again) this time with a full band.
His support was The folkie Emily Barker who was impressive then ...
Chris T-T who is another of the top talents, singer songwriter wise at the moment. He is in fact one of the only protest singers around worth listening too.Last night armed with just his guitar he was excellent and much better than when i last saw him in Norwich with a full band. It helped last night that the sound was excellent it wasn't in Norwich. The arts centre seem to have this thing about having it all too loud.To the old goat ( Jewish at a guess ) who responded to the Chris t-t chat about Israel by saying that they were not invading Gaza then you are very wrong.
He ran through basically a set of his best songs and was a absolute joy.
Frank Turner ... were do I start . I have seen him on several occasions with and without his band.Last night with band he showed why he is subject of much hype at this moment. He was pure quality, with sing along anthems that the crowd responded too by making it into a football crowd and then tender moments that made you think i have been through that."Long live the Queen" never fails to move me and did so again last night.Magnificent and in front of a 700 strong crowd.I normally hate seeing bands, performers that i have followed for several years suddenly become the flavour of the month but Frank is too good not to share...
He is out on tour again in March supporting Gaslight Anthem who have a Waterfront date ( Norwich) ... I think i will get that ticket now.
